WEST JORDAN -- The fine for parking in a "no-parking" zone in West Jordan just rose from $25 to $40.
The Deseret News reports the city council was fed up with people who ignore no parking signs, particularly in places like the city park. Mayor Melissa Johnson says the parking violators are cutting off emergency access areas.
One resident suggested the fine be $1 million. The council turned down that idea before unanimously approving the less severe rate hike Wednesday night.
