SALT LAKE CITY -- A Unified Police officer who was run over by a suspect driving a stolen truck has been released from the hospital.
Officer Neil Poff was discharged Sunday afternoon and is now recovering at home.
Saturday morning, Poff was looking for the stolen truck and tracked it to a gas station in Parley's Canyon. He approached the driver, Marty Giles, at the window of the truck.
That's when Giles drove off down a steep embankment, throwing Poff away from the window, dragging and eventually running over him.
Poff spent the night at the hospital where he was treated for injuries to his leg, ankle and back. Giles was booked into jail on suspicion of vehicle theft and attempted homicide.
