SALT LAKE CITY -- A large truck hit and killed a pedestrian Thursday morning while she was walking on the sidewalk.

The woman was in front of Pep Boys on 700 East and about 2100 South. A pickup truck driver was pulling out of the parking lot and got distracted by oncoming traffic. He didn't see the woman and ran right over her.

The woman became lodged in the wheel well of the truck. Rescue crews were able to get her out, and transported to a local hospital.

The woman died late Thursday afternoon.

No word yet on any charges the driver of the truck might be facing.
