Sam Penrod ReportingIt's been a bad day on Utah roads. Two accidents claimed lives at opposite ends of the Wasatch Valley.
Traffic is finally beginning to move after being at a standstill for two hours. Southbound lanes were closed all the way for an hour and a half while highway patrol troopers finished their investigation.
The accident was at the Pleasant Grove interchange. A woman driving a Lexus SUV and lost control as she was going northbound and crashed into three separate vehicles. Witnesses say the woman, who was killed, had been driving erratically, constantly changing lanes. They say that's when she lost control and crashed.
This is a part of the construction zone where they are adding a carpool lane in Utah County, but the area where the crash happened, was paved, although orange construction cones and a lower speed limit are out there.
Another fatal crash in northern Utah this afternoon happened in Pleasant View. A single car got into an accident. The driver of that car was killed. No word yet on the cause of that crash.
As far as the one in Utah County, there were several other people who suffered minor injuries. All were treated at the scene for scratches and released. One woman on the scene was treated for shock and taken to the hospital.
All lanes of traffic are now open.
