According to the Utah Department of Public Safety, the first crash happened around 10 a.m. near mile marker 180. Troopers say it was a head-on collision involving two vehicles.

Several people were injured, but there were no fatalities.

The second crash happened five miles away just before noon. Deputies say the driver of a Jeep swerved suddenly to avoid the backup from the first crash, and that's when the vehicle flipped.

Seven people were inside the Jeep. Three were ejected, including the driver.

One of the passengers died at the scene. The driver, who is from Price, later died at the hospital.

One of the survivors was a 4-year-old child. Troopers say a safety seat likely saved the child's life.
