SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Ralph Nader will make a counterpoint appearance the same day Vice President Dick Cheney delivers the commencement address at Brigham Young University.
A manager in Nader's Washington, D-C, office and a B-Y-U student organizing the appearance made the announcement today.
Ashley Sanders has been organizing the event in response to the school's decision to invite Cheney to Thursday's commencement. She says her goal is to provide a full spectrum of opinions that day.
Nader will speak at the McKay Events Center at Utah Valley State College in Orem at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Cheney is scheduled to deliver his remarks at B-Y-U earlier that afternoon.
The former director of Amnesty International, Jack Healy, and Pete Ashdown, a Salt Lake City Democrat who ran unsuccessfully against Republican Senator Orrin Hatch last year are also scheduled to speak at the Nader event.
