PROVO -- Prosecutors in Provo will not file shoplifting charges against Spanish Fork Police Chief Dee Rosenbaum.

The investigation began at the Dillard's department store at the Provo Towne Centre Mall on June 5. Security personnel noticed Rosenbaum walking into the store carrying Dillard's shopping bags.

Provo police say he picked out three pair of pants and put them in a bag, but he never tried to leave the store. He told them he uses the bags while shopping because the store does not provide shopping carts and he intended to pay for the pants.

Upon learning that Provo city prosecutors declined to press charges, Spanish Fork City issued a statement of support for Chief Rosenbaum. Click here to read that.
