DAVIS COUNTY -- Police officers are searching for an auto burglary suspect who led them on a high-speed chase in Davis County.

Police say two female employees from the Lone Star Steakhouse restaurant at 111 S. Frontage Rd. in Centerville were walking to the parking lot around 10:30 p.m. Monday when they saw two men breaking into their car.

Police arrest the passenger, 19-year-old Glen Michael House, from a stolen Cadillac Escalade.

When the burglars realized they had been spotted, they jumped into a Cadillac Escalade and drove away, nearly hitting the two workers. Luckily the women lunged out of the way and quickly called police.

"Their behavior tonight was very dangerous, nearly striking two people and running them over," said Lt. Paul Child of the Centerville Police Department.

Police chased the SUV as it headed south on the frontage road of Interstate 15, reaching speeds of 100 miles an hour.

"One of Centerville's officers spotted this Escalade going northbound on I-15 and followed it off the freeway into the Farmington area where he attempted to stop the Escalade," said Child.

Officers from Farmington, however, were ready for the vehicle and had already deployed spikes on the road to stop the car.

The driver eventually lost control and crashed into a yard near Pages Lane and 400 West in Bountiful after officers spiked the Escalade's tires.

The driver escaped. Police tackled the passenger, 19-year-old Glen Michael House, and took him into custody.

"The passenger that was tackled received some minor injuries from that engagement with police," Child said. "He's being checked out by the hospital."

Investigators say the Cadillac was stolen from a dealership in North Salt Lake and had a Colorado plate on it belonging to a Kia.

Inside officers also found stolen merchandise, some of which was stolen out of the vehicle at the Lone Star Steakhouse in Centerville.

"We don't know what other crimes they may have been involved in," Child said.

House is now behind bars at the Davis County Jail facing two counts of vehicle burglary, theft, interfering with an arresting officer, receiving or transferring a stolen vehicle, and criminal mischief.

If police can find the driver of the vehicle, he too will likely face the same charges, possibly more.

Police say that they don't know who the driver of the vehicle is. They say House would not give up his identity.
