(KSL News) Ballet West's new artistic director makes his first public appearance in Utah today.

Adam Sklute comes from the renowned Joffrey Ballet, as a dancer for 11 years and most recently as associate director.

He told reporters he plans to become a very visible part of the community. "Ballet West is like Utah. It's a natural beauty, and it's a national treasure, and, like Salt Lake City, it was founded on a vision, an American vision. I want Ballet West to reach out to everyone from all walks of life and share the love that I know we all have for this magnificent art form."
