SALT LAKE CITY -- Some people with a hobby or talent are making a lot of cash by selling their arts and crafts online.

The buy local and buy handmade movements are only growing. Search for just a few minutes on the website Etsy and you'll find all sorts of stuff.

"It's amazing what people make," says Muranda Barker, a Salt Lake resident who started selling her unique crochet hats and scarves on Etsy in January.

"I started using Etsy basically as a way to justify a hobby, and it's funny how fast it grows," she says.

Barker shops on Etsy as well for gifts for others or for herself.

"Something about handmade makes me feel like it's well made. There's heart put into it," she explains.

Others use eBay or Imagekind to sell their art, crafts, or photos. Each site has different listing and selling fees but those who post unique, quality items and post frequently have the most success.
