SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The U.S. Department of Labor is vowing more than $1 million to help about 200 workers laid off at ATK Launch Systems in Utah.
The $1.2 million grant announced Thursday will provide training and services for aerospace workers.
Labor Secretary Hilda Solis said in a statement that the planned retirement of the space shuttle program is affecting workers around the country, including Utah.
The Utah Department of Workforce Services will administer the grant.
Initially about $616,000 will be provided. Federal officials say the rest of the approved grant money will be released if Utah demonstrates there's still a need.
