CLEARFIELD, Utah (AP) -- The company that builds booster rockets for the space shuttle says it plans to lay off another 800 employees in February and May.
Clearfield-based ATK Space Systems cited the phase-out of the space shuttle and Minuteman III missile programs.
For the same reason, the company laid off 550 engineers, factory workers and others at three Utah locations in October.
The Salt Lake Tribune reported the company's latest plans for layoffs on its Web site Thursday.
ATK spokesman George Torres says the layoffs will hit the company's Clearfield plant, which refurbishes spent booster rockets; its Promontory test facility and in Magna where much of the Minute Man III missile work is based.
