SANDY -- A former Sandy police officer has been charged with faking tickets and overtime hours.

Charging documents claim former officer Eric Cunningham, 31, "fraudulently claimed to have worked 56 hours of overtime on the Neighborhood Traffic Safety Program and submitted 158 falsified citations during the time period of August 2009 through February 2010."

For the overtime, Cunningham received more than $34 an hour. The documents claim Cunningham's fraudulent activity cost Sandy City over $1,900.

Cunningham resigned after a February audit uncovered the discrepancies.

His court date is expected to be June 28.
