SALT LAKE CITY -- The remains of a woman found near Idaho Falls do not belong to Susan Powell. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, West Valley City police Capt. Tom McLachlan said Idaho detectives confirmed that on Monday.
The remains of a woman were found Friday just north of Ammon, Idaho. Since the city is less than a day's drive from West Valley City, detectives here contacted authorities in Idaho.
West Valley police say their Idaho counterparts believe the remains belong to an Idaho woman who disappeared in 2007. However, it could take weeks for confirmation from forensics tests.
Susan Powell was reported missing Dec. 7.
