UDOT hopes by unveiling the interactive construction map, drivers will be better prepared for traveling this summer -- both with everyday commuting and road trips to Utah vacation destinations.

On the list of the top 25 projects, seven on I-15 alone will have a major impact on commuters.

"On the top of that list is the I-15 CORE project that begins this month, 24 miles of reconstruction from Lehi down to Spanish Fork," said UDOT Deputy Director and Chief Engineer Carlos Braceras. "We expect significant delays throughout the three years of construction."

However, the next five months will likely be the worst, as one lane will be shut down.

Another big project that has been going on for a year already is the 11400 South Interchange on I-15. That project will finish this fall, adding merge and auxiliary lanes between 12300 South and 10600 South in addition to the new interchange.

Additional I-15 projects include Pioneer Crossing, the American Fork Interchange and the Express Link project on I-15 at 500 North in Salt Lake City, which will be wrapping up this fall. That project entails adding Express Lanes in each direction and replacing bridges at U.S. 89, Beck Street and 1000 North.

More improvements are planned for I-15 from Bountiful to Farmington, including new lanes and a new interchange along I-15 in south Layton and bridge repairs on I-15 in Clearfield.

In addition to north-south travel, there are also projects planned that will help east-west travel in the Salt Lake Valley in South Jordan and Taylorsville.

"Our state continues to experience growth, and with that comes a responsibility of this department to maintain our transportation system," Braceras said.
