SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah is leading the nation when it comes to claims of sexual harassment against men.

Over the past five years, Utah twice has led the nation in the percent of sexual harassment claims made by men, according to the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

During the last fiscal year, men filed about a third of the harassment claims made in the state, or 46 of a total of 143 claims.

Nationally, claims by men are up 20 percent in the past decade but the vast majority of claims still are filed by women.

One employment attorney, John Black, tells the Deseret News he's not sure if women are being more brazen, or maybe men are more willing to complain because their complaints are now taken more seriously.
