SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- State lawmakers have made one of their final moves to cut the 2009 budget by about 3.8 percent, or $190 million.
On Friday, the Legislature's primary budget writing committee made its final recommendations on what specific programs to cut.
Legislative staff will now draft a bill that the entire Legislature will likely vote on Monday or Tuesday. Gov. Jon Huntsman is expected to sign the bill into law.
Legislative leaders have agreed to a proposal that includes cuts of up to 7.3 percent for every state agency.
However, legislative leaders are agreeing to soften the blow by shifting money from some construction projects and other unused funds so some agencies will only see a 3.8 percent cut.
The catch for those programs is that it's one-time money that won't be available once the new fiscal year begins in July.
