LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. will be visiting Kent County in western Michigan this weekend after all.

Huntsman had been scheduled to speak to Kent County Republicans at the invitation of GOP county chairwoman Joanne Vorhees. But Vorhees changed her mind, apparently over Huntsman's support for civil unions for gay couples.

Huntsman's office said Thursday the Republican governor will be in Kent County Saturday morning. Michigan GOP spokeswoman Jennifer Hoff said Huntsman is attending a "policy exchange" in Grand Rapids.

Michigan GOP Chairman Ron Weiser said it was up to the county parties if they wanted to invite Huntsman, a potential 2012 presidential candidate. But he added "there were plenty of people" in Kent County who wanted to see him.
