MURRAY -- Police are searching for two men who broke into two Murray businesses and stole some merchandise. The burglars almost got away with thousands of dollars in goods, but a witness spotted the men and scared them off.
Murray police say the burglars first broke into the Software & More near 5400 South and 900 East around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday.
The store's surveillance video shows two men with masks gaining access to the business through a rear door with a crowbar. Cameras placed throughout the store caught the thieves' every move.
One man loaded computers into a car, while the other took a bag into the store and loaded up a handful of keyboards.
"It looked like they were taking their time until the siren went off and then they were gone," said employee Dave Barrett.
The store owner says the men stole nearly $7,000 worth of items, including four computers, four touch-screen monitors, printers and keyboards.

Police believe the thieves could be the same two men who burglarized the Furniture Box near 5900 South and State Street later in the evening.
A witness says he and his girlfriend were across the street at the Village Inn when they heard and then saw the men breaking windows at the store.
That witness tried to stop the men. He scared them off then followed them in his car until they crashed into a nearby power pole.
"They both jumped out and started heading toward my car," he said. "I got back in and locked the doors. It looked like they had something in their hand. (They) just came up like they were going to try to get in."

The witness says when the two men heard his car door lock, they turned back to their car, grabbed something and then ran off, leaving the merchandise behind.
Shortly after that, police arrived and set up a containment around the crash site. But it was too late; the men got away.
The witness tells us he got a good look at the two men's faces. He says they're in their mid-20s with shaved heads. One was wearing a white T-shirt and a dark hoodie, the other a baseball cap.
Police hope if they find suspects the witness might be able to identify them.
The owner of Software & More says he wants to reward the witness with something from his store.
