TEEN TOWN — Moms: can’t live with them, can’t live without them.

At least that’s what one teenage boy was probably thinking last week when he attended a major league baseball game with his mom.

Depending on your perspective, the whole horrifying/hilarious scene played out on the jumbotron at Petco Park, home of the Padres in San Diego. During a lull in the game, music blasted through the stadium. And as is custom, cameras scanned the crowd to find fans dancing awkwardly.

They quickly picked out a woman dancing her heart out with little talent yet great enthusiasm. But her entertainment value as a dancer is not why we’re here today, and it becomes quickly apparent that the real entertainment lies in enjoying how her teen boy is reacting to the dancing.

His arms are folded tightly to his chest, he refuses to twitch even one muscle to the beat, and his mouth is drawn into a tight, tolerant smile as he turns beet red. And it only gets worse when dad joins in with even worse dance timing and more pointing.

Ug. Geez, mom and dad,* you’re SO embarrassing.

But wait, there’s more! The person behind the stadium camera must have teenage children he or she likes to embarrass as well, because at some point later in the game, the camera again finds dancing mom and dad.

Of course, this is even more mortifying for the teen, and he buries his face in his hands when he just can’t take it anymore. It’s pure gold.
