DRAPER — A male inmate was stabbed during a fight at Utah State Prison Sunday night, officials said.
The fight broke out in the Uintas facility sometime Sunday night, according to Utah Department of Corrections spokeswoman Kaitlin Felsted.
The man was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital in critical but stable condition. A medical helicopter was originally called to transfer the inmate but was canceled after his condition stabilized, Felsted said.
The facility was placed on lockdown after the incident.
Details about what caused the fight or how many inmates were involved were not immediately available.
