AMERICAN FORK — A 23-year-old woman was killed after being hit by two cars on Wednesday evening, police said.

The accident took place about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday directly in front of American Fork Hospital at 170 North 1100 East, American Fork Police Sgt. Josh Christensen said.

One car hit the woman, and another car that was following the first car also hit the woman, he said.

Medical personnel from the hospital took her inside where she was later declared dead, Christensen said.

The woman, of Pleasant Grove, was not on a crosswalk when the two cars hit her, Christensen said. As of Thursday afternoon, police were still working to determine why she was in the traffic lane and why she went on the road, he added.

Christensen did not release the woman’s name because police were still notifying her family members.
