ST. GEORGE — Audio of a brief 911 call includes a dispatcher talking a caller through lifesaving measures after a girl nearly drowned in St. George last week.

The 911 call audio was released Wednesday. Six-year-old girl Jenny Toloa was in a swimming pool at the Oasis Palms Luxury Apartment Community near 260 N. Dixie Drive in St. George about 5 p.m. March 13, according to St. George police.

“There’s a little girl drowning at the 260 North Dixie Drive apartments,” a woman is heard telling dispatcher Jessica Bundy. “It’s in the pool area.”

Bystanders at the scene were able to save Toloa before police arrived. The girl was submerged in the pool for an extended period of time before she was pulled out, police said.

The call lasts just under four minutes. At the beginning of the call, the caller tells Bundy the girl is having trouble breathing and is coming in and out of consciousness.

Bundy then gives the caller step-by-step directions to save Toloa. Bundy tells the caller to lay Toloa flat on her back.

Toloa then starts to regurgitate water, the caller tells Bundy. At that point, Bundy tells the caller to lay the girl on her side so she doesn’t choke on the water.

Bundy asks the caller to put Toloa on her back when she is done regurgitating water. A short time later, police are heard arriving at the scene and Bundy ends the call.

Toloa was transported to a local hospital after the incident and was hospitalized for two days. Toloa returned home on March 16.
