THE SET — If you can dream it, there’s probably already a Guiness World Record for it; that doesn’t mean you can’t smash that record to bits with a little (to a lot of) free time.
Somehow it seems that so many people who set out to break world records based on some physical activity are high school boys. Maybe they like to show off, maybe, they’re bored, maybe it’s the hormones, or maybe this a completely unfair anecdotal observation made by one writer.
Whatever the reason, the man that currently holds the world record for fastest clapper started working on his fast-clap goal when he was in high school. Eli Bishop is that man, and his record is 1,020 claps in one minute. That’s 17 claps per second.
In this video, The Slo Mo Guys check out Bishop’s technique and slow it down for us. I fully admit that it sounds boring in writing, but I testify that the video is a fascinating and entertaining experience. And it gets even more entertaining when The Slo Mo Guys try to fast clap too.
Let’s just say that one of them definitely looks like he’s afraid of his own hands, and it’s even unclear if he even has control over his fingers. Indeed, his fingers may be flailing to this day.
Before you ask, yes I tried the technique, and I bet you will too. In fact, I recommend that you gather the fam together and each have a go for an entertaining and bonding experience.
Ready! Set! Fast clap!
