BRIGHAM CITY — Investigators believe a Millcreek man who died in a rollover crash on I-15 near Brigham City on Thursday may have been trying to exit the freeway.

Richard Mckay, 69, was northbound on I-15 near Exit 363, at Forest Street, when his Toyota Camry crossed through the earthen area between the freeway and the off-ramp, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The Camry hit a delineator post, then went across the off-ramp and off the side of the road, UHP reported. The car continued down to a small ditch and fence, rolling several times.

Mckay was wearing his seat belt but was partially ejected from the car as it rolled, according to UHP. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are looking into whether Mckay was trying to get to the freeway exit when he drove off the road and into the earthen patch, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce
