LAYTON — Alexis Glanville was walking to her car early Thursday morning when a man wearing no pants and women's underwear appeared from behind a vehicle and began to grope her in the parking lot, she said.
Glanville managed to get in her car and drive away after telling him to stop, she told police.
"I was crying my eyes out," she said in an interview Thursday. "I feel very unsafe. … I feel afraid to walk outside the door."
Layton police say Glanville's experience is part of a disturbing pattern at the same apartment complex near the Layton Hills Mall. They are asking the public to help identify the man who they say exposed himself to two other women before assaulting Glanville.
"These do appear to be escalating a little bit, and we're concerned about it," Layton Police Lt. Travis Lyman said.
Detectives say the suspect has a light complexion, is 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches, with a medium build, and wears a dark or grey hoodie and white bandana or mask.
Each of the reported incidents happened between 5:30-6 a.m. at Layton Meadows Apartments, 540 W. 1425 North, police said. They are believed to have occurred on Nov. 10, Dec. 19 and Glanville's case, on Jan. 4.
In the first two incidents, the women were leaving their apartment when a man walked toward them with his pants down, Lyman said. The women went the other way, and the man left.
KSL does not typically identify victims of sexual assault. Glanville agreed to use her name, saying she fears the same man will come back.
Police said they are trying to prevent any future offenses. Officers have interviewed tenants in the complex but still are seeking more information, Lyman said.
