WEST VALLEY CITY — A 14-year-old boy with autism who was reported missing Sunday has been located and is safe, officials confirmed.

South Salt Lake police notified West Valley City police at 10:40 p.m. that Gage was found at 3300 S. 200 West at a TRAX station parking lot, said West Valley City Police Sgt. Kevin McLachlan.

“He had just been out riding on his bike,” McLachlan said. “Apparently, he had taken offense to something that (his grandmother) had said and decided that he was just going to be alone for a while.”

Gage was reported missing Sunday afternoon and was last seen on a white BMX bike near 3700 S. and 1200 West.

The teen was taken back home to his grandmother, who has legal custody of him. There is no reason to believe Gage suffered any harm while he was out, McLachlan said.
