MANILA, Daggett County — A search resumed Wednesday for a Wyoming man who went missing while fishing last month, police said.

The Daggett County Sheriff’s Office, Summit County Search and Rescue and Utah Department of Public Safety searched Flaming Gorge for the man. Wednesday’s search was unsuccessful, according to Daggett County Sheriff’s Capt. Chris Collett.

Police said Phil Sabey, 59, of Lyman, Wyoming, went missing on Jan. 20 while fishing and said it was presumed the man had drowned.

Sabey’s boat was found near an unloading ramp at Cedar Spring Marina that morning. Police had responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle and found Sabey’s truck on a boat ramp there with the engine still running.

Police determined that Sabey “may have had problems unloading the boat and fell into the water," according to a statement from the agency last month.

Search crews attempted to locate the missing fisherman five times before searches were suspended on Jan. 26.

In a statement from the agency, searches will continue as resources are available.
