SALT LAKE CITY — A woman arrested on suspicion of criminal homicide called police Saturday and requested a welfare check on a woman she said she shot, police said.

Sue Mary Hickman, 53, was arrested and booked into Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of criminal homicide, a first-degree felony, Saturday night.

Police said they found Rose Harris, 54, dead inside a home she and Hickman shared located near 550 N. Wall St. while conducting a welfare check.

According to a jail report, Hickman called Salt Lake police dispatch requesting a welfare check on Harris.

"When the dispatcher asked (Hickman) why she was requesting a welfare check, (Hickman) replied 'I shot her, I did it. She made me snap. I couldn't take it anymore, her drinking,'" the report stated.

The report added Hickman "admitted her involvement in the case" to five different individuals and to two Salt Lake police officers.

Police said Saturday that several witnesses were being interviewed.
