SALT LAKE CITY — Ready or not, winter conditions arrived along the Wasatch Front early Thursday, creating a slushy — and in places icy — commute.
The storm delivered anywhere from a trace to several inches of snow. Many minor traffic accidents were reported as motorists navigated slushy roads and overpasses that became slick.
In Riverdale, emergency crews responded to a 14-vehicle accident that resulted in minor injuries. According to police, a car slid into a barrier on Riverdale Road near 700 West, and that triggered a chain-reaction crash.
Other vehicles spun out on the bridge near 31st Street and I-15 in Ogden.

Commuters faced delays near 4500 South and Bangerter Highway in West Valley City. A power line caught on fire and fell into the road at 4000 West and 4100 South, officials said. Traffic lanes in the area were closed and traffic lights were not working on Bangerter.
Power was out to about 3,000 Rocky Mountain Power customers in West Valley, but it was completely restored just before noon. It's unclear if the power pole issue was weather-related.
When the snow tapered off mid-morning, Lehi had received about an inch of snow, Sandy got 5 inches, Cottonwood Heights 5 and a half inches, Herriman 2 and a half inches, and 6 inches fell at Snowbird.
