PROVO — Country music singer Tim McGraw will highlight the 2016 Stadium of Fire event lineup on July 2 at LaVell Edwards Stadium, officials announced Tuesday.

Now in its 36th year, the annual Stadium of Fire event in Provo has celebrated Independence Day since 1980, when Merrill and Alan Osmond created the event. McGraw's performance, along with the fireworks show, will be televised over the American Forces Network to more than a million military members.

McGraw has won three Grammy Awards and 16 Country Music Awards, since his debut in 1992. This is McGraw's first appearance at the Stadium of Fire.

"There’s no doubt in my mind this will be one of our best shows," said Paul Warner, executive director of America's Freedom Festival, the organization that runs the Stadium of Fire annually.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 25, at 9 a.m. However, according to the organizers, members of the Freedom Festival's email list will have "advance ticket opportunities" two days before the general public sale. Fans will be able to sign up for the list, or purchase tickets, on the StadiumOfFire.com website.

Tickets will also go on sale at the BYU Marriott Center ticket office in Provo on March 25.
