TABLETOPS — Everyone has their favorite Thanksgiving side dish.
For me, it's all about the rolls. Whether they're crescent or buttered, pretzel or in breadstick form, I look forward to eating my fill of carby goodness every time Thanksgiving dinner rolls around.
Some people are loyal to green bean casserole. Others save their appetite for pumpkin pie. The occasional weirdo demands that Brussels sprouts be present at their Thanksgiving feast.
It turns out that one popular Turkey Day dish is more than a little controversial: yams.
The crux of the issue is that what we're calling "yams" are actually sweet potatoes.
According to a video put out by Vox, the difference between the two root vegetables is pretty starch — excuse me — stark.
Forgive the potato pun.
