RIVERDALE —Two men involved in an alleged murder-for-hire plot were charged Monday.

Joseph Larry Lopez, 59, allegedly paid David Allen Northcutt, 40, several thousand dollars to kill his adult daughter's boyfriend, according to Riverdale police.

On Monday, the Weber County Attorney's Office charged both men with conspiracy to commit aggravated murder, a first-degree felony.

The alleged plot was discovered last week when police were called by both men claiming a dispute over money. Police say Lopez got into a fight with the alleged hitman when he demanded a refund for not holding up his end of the deal.

Police declined to say why Northcutt allegedly backed out of the deal.
