DAD'S WORLD — Parenting is hard. Maybe I'm just a terrible parent, but there are days when I think to myself, "I love my kids. I don't like them today, but I do love them."

Parenting seems to get harder when a child is crying. Then you add another child crying to that mix, and things get exponentially harder. My approach to my crying and screaming kids is to run to my secret hiding place in the basement cold storage and eat expired Pringles. I think I should start taking this dad's approach.

This family was on vacation in Mexico and, just like on any vacation, the kids started crying about something. This time it was mom not being around. Once one daughter started, and the other decided to join in.

Instead of collapsing upon himself like a dying star — or me — this dad plays a game with the girls. He starts taking turns of who gets to cry. First it's dad, then the little one, then the big sister, and then dad again. Soon the girls seem to get tired of the game and no longer want to take their turns. The crying stops and normalcy returns.

According to the YouTube description, the dad has been doing this for some years, and says it works every time. Thanks, dad. I always need a good counter in my parenting arsenal, and this is one I'll be using the next time I get a chance.
