CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland State University is considering whether to replace the school's 13,000-seat arena with a smaller facility to allow for construction of additional on-campus housing.
Cleveland.com reports (http://bit.ly/1Ts12n0 ) that Cleveland State wants to add another 1,000 housing units in the next few years to meet student demand. Cleveland State has been working to reshape its image from a commuter school into a residential campus.
Cleveland.com reports that Cleveland State trustees have previously discussed the high costs of running the 25-year-old Wolstein Center, which loses about $1 million annually. The document made public Monday mentions an arena that would seat between 5,000 and 7,000 people.
Wolstein Center is considered too large for acts that perform at Playhouse Square and too small for those that prefer Quicken Loans Arena.
