UPDATE: Unified police said Thursday they have identified the man. Police did not release his name because they were still notifying his family members. - - - - - -

HOLLADAY — Police are investigating a suspicious death after a naked man's body was found at Big Cottonwood Regional Park Wednesday morning, police said.

Unified police responded to a report of the body near 4720 South and 1590 East after a man walking his dog discovered the body about 7:30 a.m., according to Unified Police Sgt. Melody Gray.

"The dog started barking and the man followed him into the trees, where he found this body," she said.

The body is a white "older male," possibly in his 60s, and was completely nude, Gray said. There were no obvious signs of trauma and no identification around the body, she added.

Police were going through the process of trying to identify the dead man Wednesday morning. His body will be taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

By Wednesday evening, police had "exhausted all leads" in trying to determine the man's identity, according to Gray. Police are now asking for the public's help identifying him, Gray said.

Police published a photo of a unique ring the man was wearing in hopes it might help determine his identity.
