LAYTON — Police arrested two people late Friday evening in a bizarre case of a shooting victim who was driven across state lines to Idaho, where he later died.

Police arrested 22-year-old Angel Christopher Abreu Friday night in Ogden, in connection with the shooting, according to a tweet from Layton Police. A 16-year-old boy, who was not identified, also was arrested early Saturday morning.

Both were arrested for investigation of aggravated murder, kidnapping and burglary, police said.

The 26-year-old shooting victim, Layton resident Anthony Child, died at a hospital in Preston, Idaho, Thursday morning, police said. He had sought treatment for gunshot wounds at the hospital and had apparently requested to be taken out of state, according to police.

Two masked men entered a trailer at 2500 N. Fort Lane about 5 a.m. Thursday, police said. Numerous rounds were fired, and Child was hit several times, police said.

Two of Child’s acquaintances then drove him to Idaho at his request, according to police. Investigators believe he asked to be taken out of state to hide what was going on in the trailer, according to Layton Police Lt. Alex Davis.

An investigation into the shooting began about 8:20 a.m. Thursday after Preston police contacted authorities in Layton.

Police later found 50 gallons of marijuana stored in buckets, as well as a psychedelic mushroom growing operation and other drugs in the trailer, authorities said.

Later Friday, police arrested Kevin Content, 24, for investigation of obstruction of justice and possession of a controlled substance; Devon Miller, 22, for investigation of obstruction of justice, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person and possession of drug paraphernalia; and Douglas Cordova, 30, for investigation of endangerment of a child and possession of drug paraphernalia.

It was not clear who drove Childs to Idaho. Police say nine people, not including the two intruders, were inside the Layton trailer at the time of the shooting.
