SUMMIT COUNTY — A man walked away with only minor injuries after crashing his motorcycle on I-80 in Summit County.

Utah Highway Patrol reported that four motorcyclists were riding westbound on I-80 Sunday afternoon northeast of Echo near the Emory Interchange when one motorcyclist failed to negotiate a turn.

The man, identified by UHP as 27-year-old Darrell Kuntz from California, was likely fatigued and laid his bike down on the pavement, hitting his head on a cable pole. He was wearing a helmet and sustained minor injuries, UHP trooper Lawrence Hopper said.

A medical helicopter was originally called in, but he was taken by ambulance to the Park City Medical Center after officers determined his injuries did not warrant the helicopter.

The road was temporarily closed due to the crash, but has since been reopened.
