LAKE POINT — A child missing from California was found in Tooele County late Thursday night.
The 9-year-old boy had been staying with a foster family in California when he didn’t return home last Friday. Instead, he went to his former guardian and told her he didn't want to be there anymore, police said.
Tooele County sheriff's deputies said the guardian decided to take the boy to Indiana. A missing persons alert was issued.
Thursday night, deputies learned the guardian's cellphone was traced to the Flying J at 1605 Saddleback Blvd. in Lake Point. When deputies arrived, they found the boy.
“We drove up and found him walking from the car to a local restaurant there,” said Deputy Keith Borders of the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office. “I questioned his name, he told us who he was.”
The boy appeared uninjured. He will be returned to California.
Deputies arrested Tracy Barsolo and booked her at the Tooele County Jail. She will be returned to California to face charges.
