TAYLORSVILLE — Police working with a police dog arrested a man who they said ran from officers and hid in a garbage can.
West Valley police spotted a stolen car on Redwood Road early Wednesday morning and pursued it.
The chase let them to a neighborhood in Taylorsville where the driver of the stolen car got out of the vehicle and hid in a garbage can. A police dog soon found him.
“They (dogs) are an excellent tool,” an officer said. “When we have people out running from us, especially when we get officers able to contain an area, then we just head back and get the dogs out. They do a great job of finding people.”
Police said the man tried to run again, but officers subdued him using a Taser.
Police said the man, whose name was not released, was wanted for a parole violation and was considered armed and dangerous.
An empty gun holster was found in the vehicle, police said.
