SALT LAKE CITY — So, Super Bowl XLVII was pretty entertaining once the lights came back on and the San Francisco 49ers decided to play some football.

Some of the commercials were great like the Mercedes Benz ad with the one and only Willem Dafoe. But then we also had to sit through ads like the awkward kiss from Go Daddy. Sometimes they just try too hard.

But why don't we focus on what's really important? Let's talk about the big movie trailers during the game.

Six films hoping to be summer blockbusters bought up ad time during the big game and we're going to breakdown all six here.

Fast & Furious 6

Fast & Furious 6

Yes, they have now made six of these. So, whether you like them or not, it looks like the Fast and Furious movies are going to keep coming.

According to the new trailer, the sixth Fast and Furious installment is going to be bigger, louder and more action-packed than the previous five films. Wow, I still can't believe they've made six.

Anyway, the action looks pretty intense, but my guess is the plot and overall quality of the film is going to be right where the other five were. Man, they've made six. Well, maybe I'm in the wrong because these movies have made over a billion dollars worldwide.

Iron Man 3

6 movie trailers from the Super Bowl

"Iron Man 3" decided to try something new with their Super Bowl spot.

#poll

The trailer wasn't really a complete coherent thought at 30 seconds, but at the end of it the ad gave a prompt to visit their Facebook page for more content.

The initial 30 seconds showed a huge hole blown into Air Force One midflight and crew and passengers being sucked out into the air. Iron Man then comes to the rescue but realizes he can only save four out of the 13.

When you head to the Facebook page for "more" content, what you get is Robert Downey Jr. awkwardly starring at the camera for way too long and then a bunch of shots we've already seen in earlier trailers, and then the scene on Air Force One that we already got in the previous 30 second clip.

Well done Marvel, you suckered me into checking out the trailer despite the fact you didn't really give me anything new.

"Iron man 3" has real promise, but this "new" trailer didn't really do anything to get me more excited about the film.

Star Trek Into Darkness

The 30-second spot for "Star Trek Into Darkness" didn't give us a lot of new footage, but it did, somehow, get us more excited for the movie.

Truth be told, you could probably listen to Benedict Cumberbatch read a recipe for gluten-free cupcakes with the words "Star Trek Into Darkness" at the end and it would get you excited about the new film.

However, with that said, we were hoping for more new footage than just a couple of quick shots. Considering how secretive J.J. Abrams is with his projects, it's unlikely we're going to see much more than we already have.

The Lone Ranger

I'm one of a select group that would actually argue that promoting the fact your movie was made from "the team behind 'Pirates of the Caribbean' " is actually a bad idea, but that's the road "The Lone Ranger" decided to go down.

Despite the fact that I feel everything after "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" was a cruel joke, this new trailer gave me new hope for "The Lone Ranger."

Unlike most of the other trailers during the Super Bowl "The Lone Ranger" actually gave us some new footage. There will be plenty of action, beautiful scenery (thanks to Utah), and a good amount of humor.

"The Lone Ranger" could end up being like "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" with a lot of flash and no substance, but this latest trailer actually intrigued my movie senses.

Oz the Great and Powerful

After forking out a fortune to get "The Lone Ranger" spot on during the Super Bowl, Disney decided to dump some more cash to get their 30-second spot for "Oz The Great and Powerful" on there as well.

"Oz" looks like a gamble to me. You've got a great cast with James Franco, Michelle Williams, Mila Kunis and Rachel Weisz, but the trailers just haven't sold me on the idea yet.

The film looks beautiful, which you'd come to expect from director Sam Raimi, but the trailers have fallen short for me and this Super Bowl spot was just a watered down version of earlier spots.

World War Z

The spot for the new zombie film "World War Z' was interesting. Not so much interesting for what the film itself is, but more so that this particular 30-second spot is what they decided to run.

Back in November, a full two-and-a-half-minute trailer for the film was released and it actually sparked my interest in the film.

The new spot was a shorter version of the full-length trailer, but it seemed to miss the intensity and tension of the longer cut.

I understand that the money for a two and a half minute trailer during the Super Bowl is a lot more expensive than 30 seconds, but the 30-second price tag isn't cheap either. So, with that in mind, wouldn't you want it to be the best 30 seconds possible and not just a rough cut of your earlier spot?

Then again, what do I know? I'm just the guy who watches this stuff and points out what's wrong not the one who has to deal with budgets and time constraints.

There you have it, a breakdown of the Super Bowl trailers. What was your favorite? Are you more or less excited to see these films? Let us know what you think on the comment boards, Facebook or send me an email.
