ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A former host of a cable TV hunting show has been sentenced to 16 months in prison for his role in a poaching operation on a remote national preserve in Alaska.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said Thursday that footage of some of the illegal hunts was shown on Clark W. Dixon's cable TV show "The Syndicate." The Sportsman Channel suspended the show in September.
Dixon of Hazlehurst, Mississippi, pleaded guilty in November in the case that accused him of falsely claiming to be an Alaska resident to take advantage of the state's hunting privileges.
Dixon was also ordered to pay a $75,000 fine and forfeit firearms, the small plane he used to transport the animals, and the animals themselves, which were kept as trophies.
Four others charged in the case pleaded guilty.
