BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Actress Meryl Streep can add an honorary doctoral degree from Indiana University to her collection that includes three Academy Awards.

University President Michael McRobbie presented the honorary degree to Streep during a ceremony Wednesday. Streep was visiting the Bloomington campus to give IU's filmmaker lecture.

The Herald-Times reports (http://bit.ly/1pcC2AC ) Streep told the audience that her advice to young women is to not worry so much about their weight, saying girls spend too much time thinking about it.

She said young men and women should realize that "what makes you strange" is your strength because that's what gets you noticed.

Streep's husband, sculptor Don Gummer, grew up in Indianapolis and studied at IU's art school.
