THE DATING SCENE — To be loved! Oh, what a feeling!
Building up a solid romantic relationship can be one of life’s most fulfilling moments. Yes, it can be a lot of work, but as the great NBA legend Michael Jordan once said: “Nothing of value ever comes without being earned.”
Imagine if relationships were like, let’s say, how NBA players interact with one another. House of Highlights decided to show us what an NBA-esque courtship would look like.
In this video, we see a young lady named Megan at a party. A gentleman named Oscar comes over and introduces himself. They begin to have a conversation … the same way NBA players talk to each other after games: by using their jerseys to cover their mouths so the cameras won’t pick up what they’re saying to each other.
We then see the couple at a restaurant, again covering their mouths while talking. Even the waiter gets in on it.
After dinner, the couple says goodbye at Megan’s apartment door. What seems to be the couple’s first kiss ends up being a shoulder bump, a la NBA players when they celebrate with their bench-riding teammates.
As soon as Megan enters the apartment, her roommates are ready for the “post-date press conference.”
Megan has the post-game conference talk down to a point, too!
We then cut to a scene with Oscar coming home from the date. He feels his phone vibrate. He looks down and sees that “Adien Wochnarowski” (a play on ESPN basketball insider/guru Adrian Wojnarowski) tweeted that Megan has agreed to a second date with Oscar “per roommate sources.”
Woj, I mean, “Woch” always has his sources get him info.

Three years later, Megan and Oscar are tying the knot. But there will be no exchange of rings in this ceremony. It’ll be an exchange of jerseys, just like NBA players do after games.
Oscar, a Miami Heat fan, gives his jersey to Megan, who gives him a Los Angeles Lakers jersey. LeBron James would be happy!
Lastly, to make it a full-blown NBA wedding, Oscar gives his shoes to the ring bearer, like hoops stars like Donovan Mitchell do almost every game.
Call me crazy, but I don’t think it’s too far-fetched for a bride and groom to exchange jerseys. I’m sure there have been crazier things exchanged at the altar — and I don’t want to Google what they could be.
