THE SKY — Whenever I think of a tornado I think of two things: one is the 1999 tornado that hit Salt Lake City the day before my 16th birthday; the other is the 1996 classic film "Twister."

Did I say classic? Well, whatever. Either way, that's what I think of. There was some impressive footage from the deadly tornado in 1999 and the other had some really dated CGI footage of fake tornadoes.

This video, however, is a totally new perspective of a tornado and it's pretty incredible.

Live Storms Media posted this video of a tornado in Sulphur, Oklahoma, captured in 4K by a drone. First off, let's tip our hats to the person piloting this drone. Flying a drone while capturing footage is no easy feat. Every time I've attempted to fly a drone has resulted in a broken drone. So making sure you're the right distance from something it's shooting and to also keep everything in frame is pretty incredible, and this video is a great example of that.

The other thing that's awe-inspiring is just how powerful and uneasily beautiful the tornado is from a bird's-eye view. Watching the twister make its way across the landscape, throwing debris around and picking up water from ponds into its funnel.

Things that scare me tend to fascinate me and this is no exception. This video impresses me with its visuals, with its expert pilot, and humbles me with the reminder of the power and intensity this weather harnesses.
