SANDY — A family had to be cut from their vehicle Saturday after it rolled on the freeway.
Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Steve Winward said the driver reported that a semi had changed lanes in front of him while heading south at 7200 South on I-15, at about 11:30 a.m., "causing him to lose control in the slushy conditions." The minivan hit the cement barrier and rolled across traffic, stopping on its side.
The driver and a passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle through the windshield and two children in the back seat were able to climb out the back of the vehicle, Winward said. No one was seriously injured, but, he said the passenger was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Winward said the road had been "fairly snow-packed" earlier in the day, and that drivers need to be careful while driving, as "some areas still have quite a bit of snow on them."
"Some roads have been cleared off and others have not," he said.
