HERRIMAN — Resident Lori Pymm and her three kids are praising their decision to purchase an indoor surveillance camera. Early Thursday morning, it captured something they thought would never happen in their home.

"My dogs were barking, and it really bothered me,” Lori Pymm said. “I thought something was weird, so I came down and the back door was wide open."

At the time, she did not realize that someone had broken into her home. She didn’t hear or see anyone, so she went back to bed. But her two dogs’ barking didn't stop.

"I came back down again, and that's when she was in the pantry,” she said.

Her surveillance camera captured a woman hiding in the family’s kitchen pantry. Pymm began to yell at the woman, but no response.

“The door opened really slow, and there is this woman standing there,” Pymm said. “I thought maybe it was a friend of my son's and that she was hungry.

But that wasn't the case, and Pymm quickly called the police, who arrived within minutes. Pymm said that the woman ran through a window screen but officers caught her before she could get away.

For Pymm, the damage was done. She said that she and her family felt violated.

“It's just horrible,” Pymm said. “And everybody has an opinion of what they would do and I hate that because you have no idea what you would do."

A Unified Police Department spokesperson told KSL that the woman, known to police, was not arrested and not charged with any crimes because she is dealing with mental health issues. Police said criminal trespass charges are being screened with the District Attorney.
