OREM — A man was transported to a hospital with "life-threatening injuries" after a shooting in the area of an apartment complex Thursday evening, police said.

Police responded to a report of the shooting near the Village Park Apartments at 1080 N. State, according to Orem police.

A man was transported to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said. Everyone involved in the incident — at least four people — were accounted for Thursday evening and there was no additional danger to nearby residents, Orem Police Lt. Craig Martinez said. He couldn't provide more details about the shooting.

"We've got several different stories from several different witnesses," Martinez said.

Detectives were continuing to interview three people Thursday evening. The lieutenant said police were seeking a search warrant for the apartment and that the scene would likely take several additional hours to investigate.

No other information about the incident was immediately known. A spokesman for Orem police was called to the scene to speak with reporters.
