ST. GEORGE — A Vernal man wanted on a federal arrest warrant fled from officers Thursday before crashing in the parking lot of an LDS meetinghouse in St. George, police said.

David Cody Temples, 35, allegedly fled after being approached by FBI agents at Sportsman's Warehouse, 2957 E. 850 North.

Temples eventually crashed into a cinder block wall in a church parking lot following a vehicle chase, according to St. George police.

The agency sent out alerts over Twitter after Temples allegedly fled the scene, asking the public to be on the lookout in the area of St. James Lane and River Road. One school bus from Sunrise Ridge Intermediate School was sent away from the area and back to the school as a precaution.

Temples was located and arrested a short time later.

"Thank you to the citizens who were alert to strange circumstances," St. George police posted on Twitter. "Your tips helped resolve this safely."

No injuries were reported.

Police issued a warrant for Temples' arrest Monday in connection with a Nov. 25 incident in Las Vegas, St. George police said. He was wanted for alleged kidnapping, robbery and burglary offenses.

Court records show Temples' prior criminal history includes convictions for commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child, burglary, assault, drug possession, failure to stop at the command of police, escape from official custody, criminal mischief, and multiple firearms charges and protective order violations.
