WEST JORDAN — A West Valley man died in a motorcycle crash Wednesday night.

Caleb Allen, 18, was headed east on 8200 South approaching the intersection at 6000 West shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday when he lost control of the bike and hit the roundabout and a sound wall, West Jordan police officer Scott List said.

Allen, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken by medical helicopter to University Hospital in Salt Lake City where he later died, List said.

There were no known witnesses to the accident, and police are investigating whether drugs or alcohol were involved, List said.

List reminded motorcyclists Thursday, "There is no reason not to wear a helmet. It only helps you."
